SUPER GOOD_Activist Platform
On the day after the 2016 election, "New York Magazine" and others published listicles outlining hundreds of causes and marginalized groups that would need sustained support through the next four years. As my friends and I began visiting all their sites, we realized how cumbersome each sign-up process is for new donors. So we created Super Good, a streamlined solution for giving to multiple charities simultaneously. It’s a philanthropic and activist platform that makes it easy to donate and do something good every day.
We built the web app and website, crafted the explainer video, handled all legal, financial and technological logistics and launched the platform in three months entirely for free. I worked with four peers to recruit over 40 ungodly talented activists, animators, musicians, producers, strategists, non-profit leaders, accountants, lawyers (JK, we paid out of pocket for that, lawyers don't work for free!) to donate their time and talents. It was the most intense, yet meaningful, project I've ever done.
There are three central components of Super Good. The first is a mutual-fund-like approach to charitable giving. Super Good consolidates 30 charities into one easy, monthly donation. Pick the issues that matter to you, and give to causes like the ACLU, The Sierra Club, Black Lives Matter and CAIR with just one click.
The second feature is accessible actions. It feels like there’s too much to do, but too little time. So Super Good gives you one “weekly do” you can complete in less than five minutes, like writing a letter or contacting a government official to counteract Trump’s dangerous policies.
The third piece is measurable impact. We felt it was important to see how your giving adds up over time on your personal dashboard. All Super Good metrics update in realtime, so you can see just how much you and the whole Super Good community are accomplishing at every second.
The entire goal of Super Good is to make it easier for people to donate and do something good every day to counteract all the scary policies coming from the White House. Megs Senk and Helena Chu designed the platform to feel poppy, positive and empowering. We kept the colors bright and the language simple to provide a much-needed breath of fresh air during this tumultuous news cycle.
